Went here for a quick dinner because my friends wanted some simple wonton noodles in a nice environment.
The menu was a nice lilac purple.

I didn’t feel like wonton noodles so went for soup and braised noodles in Mapo sauce with shredded pork.

Daily soup:

The daily soup that day was sea coconut and American ginseng pork soup.
It had sweet taste followed by the soothing flavour of American ginseng.

Braised noodles in Mapo sauce with shredded pork $120:

The noodles were interesting which was why I chose it because efu noodles are not normally paired with mapo sauce.
There were pickled vegetables in it which gave it a nice saltiness and crunch to the noodles.

[Review 4963] From a British chippie to a Japanese joint @ S2 Kitchen

Previously, this restaurant used to be my favourite chippy which closed down, now it is a Japanese place.
As I was curious about the new place I tried it for dinner one night because a local celebrity featured the 10 layered sea urchin cup.
That night I had the sakura shrimp omelette which was a mix of a savory and sweet taste.

Then, we had skewers and my favourite was the chicken skin, which was lovely and crispy.

We also challenged our cholesterol levels by having tiger prawns topped with sea urchin, oysters topped with sea urchin, Fish milt and the famous 10 layered sea urchin cup.
I love fish milt because it is creamy but it got quite heavy in the end.
In some restaurants, they serve luxurious chicken wings stuffed with bird’s nest but here it was stuffed with a HUGE Abalone that has been braised in sake.
For carbs, I had the charcoal noodles with pork and egg. The noodles were soft and springy flavoured by the soup.

Finished dinner with a crispy sweet tuna fish filled with red beans..

I rarely go to MK because it is too congested with people and second hand smoke but I went here because of Marks and Sparks which has something different compared to the Central and Tai Koo branch.
Although it boasts to be the biggest food store in Hong Kong, the other MS food stores seem bigger especially the Central branch.
They serve Mac and Cheese balls, Beef and onion/chicken and mushroom slices and there is a nice table to dine there.
I got the Mac and Cheese balls and the steak and onion slice and I would have got tea as well but the staff said I could not use this stamp card because they said it is for Coffee related drinks only.
I was given this card in Central where I have been using it on TEA ONLY and if the dumbasses looked closely at the card you can see tea cups as well as coffee cups.

An email has been sent to Marks and Sparks because the staff should be trained about their own products and services instead of making up non-existent rules and it is a waste of breathe trying to reason with dumb people.

Anyway, the Mac and cheese balls were good, the coating was crispy and it had real cheesy cheese in the middle with decent macaroni but the cheese could have been stronger.

The slice was really good and I haven’t had this for ages because I don’t have an oven.

The puff pastry was flakey and buttery and it was filled with delicious beef in the middle.

I was feeling a bit peckish while I was in Stanley so decided to come here and have Scotch eggs.
They were cute Scotch eggs with quail eggs in the middle with a molten egg yolk surrounded by delicious herbed minced pork encased in a crispy crumb coating.
There was a side of mustard to make it more appetizing.

[Review 4960] Pre CNY Gathering @ 名門私房菜 Charisme Pavillion

Went here for a gathering before CNY so we had the bowl feast.
In the bowl, there were GIANT prawns which stole the show but I liked the duck feet and braised pomelo skin.
It came with a bowl of extra red beancurd sauce which I loved because I love red beancurd so I had lots of sauce and it was so nice that I drank some LOL!

The bowl feast comes with vegetables and glutinous rice.

This place specializes in Shunde cuisine hence they had fried milk and stuffed dace fish.

For the broth, there were more ingredients than the broth itself including pork pancreas.
The stuffed dace fish was nicely done, the fish looked intact and the skin was crispy but there were bits of grounded bones in it.
We finished with the crispy fried milk, which turned out to be the best fried milk I have had.
When it arrived, it looked like a fried seafood roll because of the breadcrumb coating and it came with a side of salad cream.

After taking a bite it turned out to be the best I have tried because of the coating.
Normally fried milk is coated in batter and if the oil is not fresh, I will only eat the filling in the middle.

The breadcrumb coating here was fantastic, I could taste some coconut on the outside which gave it a really fragrant taste and the milk filling was not too sweet so you can taste the milk as well.
It definitely shouldn't be paired with salad cream because it tastes good on its own but if they really want to serve it with sauce, I think chocolate or a berry sauce would be good.

I love the lunches here because it is $98 for a two course lunch.
The portions may not be big but its quality and not quantity.
For salad, it was braised purple artichokes with lemongrass, rocket, parmesan and truffle.
The salad was really refreshingly simple and it was my first time trying purple artichoke which tasted a bit like bamboo shoots.

For the main course, I had the guinea fowl which was also my first time trying it.
The texture is more springy and its skin was quite thick.

Beneath the guinea fowl, there were delicious panfried spring onion bulbs.

For dessert, I upgraded the cheesecake to the millefeuille.
