2016 Kee Wah Bakery rice dumplings

It is the time of year when shops are selling Zongzis to celebrate dragon boat festival.
I dread this time of the year because of the hot summer to come.
Anyway, Kee Wah have come up with a variety of dumplings with healthy quinoa and a sweet one made with Osmanthus and Purple Sweet Potato.

Rice Dumpling with Osmanthus and Purple Sweet Potato:

The new sweet dumpling is quite creative as it is made with the fragrant osmanthus and purple sweet potato which is the current trend in most sweet recipes.

There are lots of red beans in it as well.

Basically a sweet dumpling loaded with goodies.
++++
Quinoa Rice Dumpling with Pork Floss:

As well as traditional rice dumplings, this is for the health conscious made with Quinoa.

With the pork floss, it has a sweet tone to it.
++++
Chinese Ham and Supreme Dried Scallop Rice Dumpling with Two Yolks:
The size of the zongzi was comparatively bigger than the other ones and it was like a Kinder surprise dumpling because it was loaded with surprises!
I loved the five spice powder and double egg yolks which gave the overall dumpling extra saltiness.
++++
Betty's XO Sauce Rice Dumpling with Pork Belly:
Ingredients: Glutinous rice, pork belly, xo sauce (garlic, shallot, chinese ham, dried shrimp, red pepper, dried scallop, dried shrimp).
0 讚好
This was my favourite because it was spicy which makes the sticky glutinous rice more appetizing.

Went to eyebar to try their new Suzie Wrong cocktail which comes with a tumbler to take home.
As well as the cocktail, they had nibbles.
I loved the dark chocolate with crispy Iberico ham because the saltiness went nicely with the chocolate.

Went to a cocktail party at Nanhai no.1 and they had these fried prawn dumplings which are normally steamed.
The fried version is much better because it is crispy filled with springy prawns in the middle.

[Review 5296] Tasteless @ 有暉車仔麵餐廳

Congee is always recommended when people are sick because it is tasteless and oil free.
I think flat rice noodles are good too when you are sick as they are tasteless as well.
I went to this joint because the noodle shop opposite was rude.
As I didn't know you could order plain noodles I ordered a noodle with a topping and when I gave them my order sheet they said minimum order was three toppings so I added two more to the list.
Anyway, when it came, there were only two items and it cost $28 which I don't know how they calculated it.
After I told them, there were only two items they put a third item in and changed the bill to $29.
I found the noodles tasteless even though the broth had a strong MSG taste.
The curry potatoes were not my cup of tea because it was just sweet and spicy.
I really disliked the chicken feet as well because they were just fried frozen chicken feet which were tasteless and the texture was weird.

More noodle choices

Since my last visit, there are more noodle options and toppings!
Unfortunately, they ran out of the seaweed noodles.
Anyway, I had noodles in curry sauce which was a new item and I chose Japanese buckwheat noodles with Korean instant noodles.
It was a nice change having noodles in curry as not many modern noodle joints offer this.
1 讚好
For the toppings I had Japanese tofu, luncheon ham, purple potato cake and braised pork knuckles.
The purple potato cake was interesting and the texture is similar to Konjac jelly.
As it was a hot day, I was really thirsty and had the barley and orange drink and a Jasmine tea as well.
I liked the pairing of orange and barley because it was refreshingly different.

[Review 5294] A great Indian place in SK @ Village Malaysian and Indian Restaurant

西貢普通道1E號地下

https://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/a-great-indian-place-in-sk-e2591887
Village Malaysian and Indian Restaurant has been in SK for years and I never knew about it because it is well hidden.
I discovered this restaurant after dining at The Cabin.
They offer a range of Malaysian and Indian dishes and for lunch they have some good deals.
As an Indian food lover, I chose saag paneer, aloo gobi, butter chicken and plain naan.
Started with the fruit punch which was brilliant because it was made with real juice and had bits of apples and oranges in it.
The food was impressive too.
The saag paneer was creamy and fluffy while the cheese was soft as they make it themselves.
I love the aloo gobi because the tomato taste was rich and strong, and the potatoes were tasty and soft.
The butter chicken was interesting because it was really served with a blob of butter on top and it went well with the fluffy naan.
The Saffron rice is a must because you have to have these long grains of soft Basmati rice with curry.
Definitely coming back again.
