Before I went, I had a quick look at the reviews to see what noodles they serve because I only like the thin ones but I kept seeing photos of both.

When I got there, I found out there was a choice of thin or thick.
The broth is clam based so it tastes like the broth you get from clams and sake with ramen added to it.

We had two noodles, one with uni and one with pine crabs legs.

It just depends on what you favour because the noodle and broth tastes the same.


For snacks had the gyozas and ox tongue.

The gyozas were ok but I wished they were crispier.

My friend had the ox tongues.

This restaurant is called East Ocean Seaview Restaurant and it really does have a view of the sea!
I got some CNY puddings, a savory and a sweet one.
The boxes were huge so I thought the pudding was going to be a round one but it was a rectangular one which doesn't really take up the whole box.

FIVE BEANS PUDDING:

Price: $133

Taste: This was savoury and loaded with lots of nutritious red beans, green beans, black eyed beans, red kidney beans and peanuts hence the name Five beans.

I really liked it because it had a strong five spice flavour.

Suitable for vegetarians: Yes

PURPLE YAM PUDDING:

Price: $133

Taste: It was sweet but not cloyingly sweet with bits of yam and butterfly pea which gives it that colour.

This Japanese joint has been here for ages but I have never tried it until today.

The good thing is that they don't charge 10% in the daytime so go during the day.

It is very affordable but don't expect the premium quality that you get in the city.

Anyway, here was what we had.

The salmon and salmon roe was good but the rice was clumped together.

This had a really fishy smell but it was delicious with a strong fishy taste.

The salmon was such a big piece of salmon and it tasted like slow cooked salmon so I liked it.

After trying the Beetroot mousse cake, I decided to come back for dinner.

Started with smoothie which was sweet and refreshing.

I liked the cutlery, they were small with non slip rubber grips which makes it really ergonomic and comfy for small hands to use.

I was recommended The Staff Devilled eggs which have a modern Chinese twist to it with finely chopped spinach, salted egg yolk and preserved egg.

It was really delicious because the filling does not taste heavy and it goes well with the silky egg white.
For the mains, I had the chicken which looked so human with those legs wide apart ready for a OB/GYN examination !!

I wish I took a picture in that angle !!

The chicken was crispy and tender but the sauce was a bit too creamy for my liking.
It came buttered rice with carrots.

For dessert I had the bread and butter pudding which was made with decent baguette pieces because the bread pieces were crispy and airy.


Last but not least was my favourite dessert, the golden fondant with icecream, also made with salted egg.I loved that thick custard filling with a salty twist to it.



I had the Beetroot mousse cake again because I love that silky whipped light cream texture with a strong beetroot taste that is not too sweet. There is freshly grated beetroot on top which enhances the beetroot flavour even more.

I didn't try the breakfast but I liked the quirky names!!There is a choice of All day, All month, All year and All life BREAKFAST!!!

Finally tried the cheese tart from this famous joint causing queues and chaos at the basement of Sogo.

There are different ways to eat it, you can reheat it so that the filling becomes runny or have it at room temperature where the filling is thick and mousse like.

I had mine at room temperature and it tasted like those Japanese cheese cakes in a tart crust.

The tart crust is hard with a buttery smell.

It was quite nice but after trying the limited edition chocolate cheese tart at the new APM branch, I prefer the chocolate one and it will be available soon from the 23rd to the 27th January at SOGO.
