I was just looking for a drink and ended up getting a buckwheat tea from here.
As well as buckwheat, there are other drinks to choose from.
It was a memorable buckwheat tea as there were other ingredients as well as buckwheat.

You can see pieces of carrot in it and well as buckwheat and green tea leaves.

The tea was quite nice as the buckwheat was quite prominent.
I will probably visit again knowing it as the buckwheat place as the Chinese and English name is difficult to remember as you can't really see it on the logo.

I found out about Barbeland because a friend went and told me about it.
At first I wasn't sure what to make of it because the name is similar to Barbie but it wasn't that type of Barbie but still girly and pink.

In the end I decided to go because there were pictures of spam fries served in can.
When I got there, I loved the black plastic Gothic photo frames against the striped pink and white wall.

The chairs had Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe which reminded me of this strange Sichuan joint in MK called SPICY GIRL as they also had similar Marilyn Chairs and these weird Cartoon girl chairs.

There were board games as well as darts.

The best thing was the music videos because I love Bollywood and not so much of  K Pop.

The menu had a good variety but I had already decided on the spam fries.

For drinks had the Mary Go Round which was a lovely concoction of ginger and pineapple with a fizz.

Next came the spam fries which were so much fun being served in a can.


Tried them hot and as they gradually cooled down.
Both temperatures tasted good. When they were hot, they were like fries with a soft squidgy texture and when they were cold they tasted saltier so went well with the ketchup.
It would have been perfect if there was rice because I love eating spam with rice.

Finished with some tea to quench my first!

Will definitely be back as this place rocks and I love BOLLYWOOD and there is a young version of Eason (Vxxxxxxt)

Meatballs are not new at Subway but now you can get them a la carte for HKD18.

There is BBQ or Marinara.
The BBQ looked good but I believe the BBQ sauce is the same BBQ sauce you get for the subs which is quite strong and smoky so I went for the Marinara.

The balls were soft and drenched in rich marinara sauce which had a subtle garlic and herb taste.

Overall, the meatballs in a cup are good if you want to try the meatballs without the sub.

I love Pistachio so didn't hesitate in trying this but didn't really have any expectations because the Chinese cake mix is different from the English.


As expected the roll was too sweet so it killed the roll completely otherwise it would have been delicious.
I tried the pistachio filling on its own and it was silky with a lovely pistachio taste.
Anyway, who cares, life goes on, the level of sweetness probably won't be changed in future.


As well as Swiss roll, they had fancy sachimas in different flavours like Orange and honey.

Aloy Mak Mak started off in Yuenlong and now they have branched closer to the city in Tsuen Wan.
The restaurant is spacious and they have big tables for group gatherings which is ideal for any celebration be it Mother's day as Chinese restaurants will be difficult to book and prices will be marked up!Most of the dishes we had were signature items which will be available on Mother's Day.
The Bread bowl was my ultimate favorite as it was filled with seafood curry that wasn't spicy and flavoured by the fragrant turmeric.
Also available in a pumpkin version.
As a carbs lover, we had the garlic bread which looked like Jenga blocks, they were light and crispy yet not oily.
Although the minced pork with herbs is a little spicy, they have put galangal in it which makes it really tasty.
The Thai platter which has different portion sizes is great for sharing and  I love the chicken wrapped in pandan as well as the fried pumpkin.
The raw prawns are a popular dish at AMM and the sauce was very fiery and tangy.
The Tom Yum Kung soup was nicely flavoured so the herbs were not too strong or spicy yet appetizing.
There was mango fried rice with crab which was a makes a sweeter option to pineapple fried rice which chunks of it in the rice as well as the slices on top.
Finished with the dessert which was a great ending and they also have black and white glutinous rice that is also served at the other branches.

As I was in the area decided to try the drinks.
The purple potato looked good with coloured balls at the bottom so ordered that.
Unfortunately, there was only one type of taro ball given compared to other pictures posted.

The purple potato lacked taste so all I could taste was milk and sweetness.

I wasn't expecting this to be my first and last visit to Mr. M!
Anyway, this joint has been open for a year now but I only just found out as I was in the area recently for Cart Noodles.
Located in an Alleyway is Mr. M serving Scotch Eggs, Burgers and Fish Fingers and Chips.

On the counter was a Pop-Up Pirate where players take turns to insert plastic swords into slots.
The unlucky person who launches the pirate is eliminated.
I was tempted to play but it wouldn't be funny if the pirate landed in the frying vat as I had just ordered the Scotch Egg and Fish Fingers with Chips!!!!

I loved the chips which were flat and chunky, the Tartar Sauce they used was creamy with a little bit of tartness similar to the ones at McDonald's but not so acidic.
The Fish Fingers were ok but not as Fishy as Bird's Eye Fish Fingers.

Now to the star of the show [Scotch Egg]

Overall it tasted really good but I was concerned the bottom part was a bit pink so I asked because traditionally it is sausage meat/pork mince.
Found out that it was beef so they said pink is ok for beef which makes sense as beef tartare is eaten raw.
Hopefully someone will make a omnipork version soon so vegetarians can devour this as well.
Unfortunately it will be their last day this Saturday according to the guy.

Giving this a smile because they serve all my favourites but Tsuen Wan is a bit out of the way for expats.
